Asian Range Breakout with Inside Bar Entries

What is Asian Range Breakout?

The Asian Range is the price area formed during the Asian session, when liquidity is low and volatility is limited. When London and New York open, price often breaks out of this range, creating trading opportunities.

Identifying the Inside Bar

An inside bar is a candle whose high and low are completely within the previous candle’s range. It shows consolidation before a breakout.

How to Trade

  • Identify the Asian range: draw horizontal lines at the high and low of the Asian session.
  • Wait for an inside bar to form before price reaches the range boundary.
  • When price breaks the range with an inside bar, enter in the direction of the breakout.
  • Set a stop loss beyond the opposite side of the range, and take profit at a target level.

    Real Example

Suppose the Asian range is 1.1000–1.1050. An inside bar appears near the high. When price breaks above 1.1050, you buy with a stop loss at 1.1000 and target at 1.1100.

    Common Mistakes

  • Entering immediately when price touches the range without an inside bar signal.
  • Placing a stop loss too tight, getting stopped before the breakout.
  • Ignoring news events that can cause strong volatility.
  • Content is for reference only, not investment advice. Forex trading carries high risk.
