Bullish Belt Hold Line

What is the Bullish Belt Hold Line?

The Bullish Belt Hold Line is a single-candle pattern that appears during a downtrend. It signals that the market might reverse and start moving up. This candle has a long white (or green) body. It opens at or very near the low of the day and closes near the high. Typically, it has little or no upper shadow (the line above the body). It may have a small lower shadow. The pattern shows that buyers took control right from the opening and pushed prices up strongly.

How to Identify the Bullish Belt Hold Line?

  • The market is in a downtrend.
  • You see a long bullish (white) candle.
  • The candle opens at or very close to the low of the day.
  • The candle closes near its high, leaving a small or no upper wick.
  • The body is significantly larger than the previous candles.
  • Open = HighNo upper wickClose = LowNo lower wickBuyers controlled entire session — open = high, close = low of candle

How to Trade Using the Bullish Belt Hold Line?

  • Wait for confirmation: The pattern is stronger if the next candle also closes higher or if it breaks a resistance level.
  • Entry: You can enter a long (buy) trade after the breakout above the high of the belt hold candle, or on a pullback to support.
  • Stop Loss: Place stop loss below the low of the belt hold candle or below the recent swing low.
  • Take Profit: Aim for a previous resistance level or use a risk-reward ratio of at least 1:2.
  • Real Example

Imagine you are watching EUR/USD in a downtrend. Suddenly, a big green candle appears that opens at the bottom and closes near the top. This could be a Bullish Belt Hold Line. If the next candle also moves up, you might consider buying.

    Common Mistakes

  • Trading the pattern without confirming the trend (it must be preceded by a downtrend).
  • Entering too early without waiting for the next candle's confirmation.
  • Ignoring the overall trend context (the pattern works best in a clear downtrend).
